A Study on the Implementation of Manual Construction Methods for Strauss Pile and Pile Cap Foundations in a Three-Story Clinic Building Project

Foundation work is an important part of building construction because it transfers structural loads to the ground to maintain building stability and safety. This study aims to examine the implementation of manual strauss pile foundation work in the reconstruction project of a three-story clinic building and compare it with SNI 2847:2019 and SNI 7656:2012 standards. The research used a descriptive comparative method through field observations, documentation, and literature studies. The observed stages included excavation, reinforcement work, concrete mixing, strauss casting, footplate reinforcement installation, formwork installation, and footplate casting. The results showed that the work was still carried out manually, so the quality highly depended on workers’ skills. Comparative analysis showed that the footplate with formwork had a concrete volume of 0.4 m³ and a reinforcement ratio of 170 kg/m³, while the footplate without formwork had a concrete volume of 0.576 m³ and a reinforcement ratio of 151 kg/m³. In addition, several discrepancies with SNI standards were found, including differences in footplate dimensions and concrete casting without concrete compaction tools.
